Chances are you’re familiar with the TV show “The Brady Bunch”.
After all, it’s been one of TV’s most beloved syndicated shows for several decades now.
Well here’s a little tidbit of “Brady Bunch” trivia for you: It was never really all that popular during its five year original run!
As a matter of fact, not one episode of the entire series ever broke into the Top 30 in the Nielsen Ratings.
So tenuous was the show’s existence that after the taping of each season’s finale episode, the cast always left wondering if the show would be renewed for the next season.
And after the end of season five it wasn’t.
Luckily, those five seasons produced just enough episodes to qualify “The Brady Bunch” to run in syndication. And the rest, as they say, is television history.
Although the show never caught on with adult audiences during its five year prime-time run, it became quite popular in syndication because it was aired during the “after-school” time-slots that make up the “prime-time” for school-aged children. They absolutely loved it!
I guess in a way “The Brady Bunch” can be considered a “rags-to-riches” story.
A show that never ranked in the Top 30 ended up being one of the most popular shows of all time after it went into syndication.
To finish up, here’s a short video featuring what is perhaps the most famous clip of the entire series – the “Marsha, Marsha, Marsha” clip:
