If you’ve been paying attention to the calendar you know that fall is quickly approaching.
And that of course means this year’s mowing season will soon be coming to an end.
If your lawn mower has seen its better days you’re probably thinking you’ll need to replace it with a new one come spring.
But truth be told, waiting till spring to buy a new mower instead of buying one in the fall would likely be a huge mistake.
Why is that, you ask? Well, two reasons:
1 – Fall is when most retailers clear out their seasonal inventory of mowers to make room for their winter items.
In order to get rid of their remaining mowers as quickly as possible they mark their prices down by a large margin. I’ve actually even seen some models marked down 50% from what they were selling for back in the spring!
2 – Most retailers time their annual price increases to coincide with the spring delivery of the next year’s stock.
In a nutshell, if you wait till spring you’ll likely end up paying more for your new lawn mower than you would have paid for it last spring, even if you end up buying the same exact model!
Pretty simple, right?
By the way, the savings you’ll enjoy by making your purchase in the fall isn’t limited just to lawn mowers.
You can expect to find similar “end of season” savings on string trimmers, edgers and most other lawn and garden items that are used primarily during the warmer months.
In case you’re wondering, both Amazon and Walmart.com have excellent selections of lawn mowers to choose from any time of year.
However, this is one purchase that’s probably best made from a local retailer instead of buying online.
Bottom line: If you find yourself in need of a new lawn mower or other piece of lawn and garden equipment you should seriously consider buying it before the snow starts to fall instead of waiting till the daffodils begin to bloom!
